Uweza is a Swahili word meaning ability, opportunity and power. Uweza Aid Foundation seeks to create empowerment through grassroots Kenyan projects by providing opportunities for expansion. Uweza was created after meeting many Kenyans who have voluntarily developed programs and centers that address important needs within their poverty-stricken communities. Unfortunately, their success in meeting these needs is often hampered by a lack of support and an inability to express their ideas and goals on a larger scale. With the little they have themselves, these individuals have strived to achieve for the greater good of their communities.

The programs we support reach out to all areas and include a children's home, a pre-primary school, HIV/AIDS outreach, a health clinic, and a soccer league. Because of the current post-election crisis in Kenya, we have also created a relief program to help individuals that have been affected. We hope to create awareness for these small projects and provide sustainable means for continuation and expansion. Through these Kenyan leaders and their programs and centers, we will be empowering those reached to better support themselves and those around them.
